Bandarlampung, Lampung (Antara) - An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck the waters northeast of Lembata in the eastern Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara on Monday, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said. The earthquake was located at 7.46 degrees southern latitude and 123.78 degrees eastern longitude or 110 km northeast of Lembata at a depth of 563 km, the agency said. The quake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami, it said. A 5.4-magnitude earthquake that struck at 04.15 western Indonesian time is considered moderate and capable of causing considerable damage. (*) Reported by Budisantoso Budiman
