Surabaya, E Java (Antara) - The pairing of Soekarwo-Saifullah Yusuf won the gubernatorial elections with 6,525,015, or 37.62 percent of the votes, according to the recapitulation of count conducted by the provincial office of General Election Commission (KPUD).
The KPUD carried out a manual counting on the provincial gubernatorial polls here on Saturday and announced that Soekarwo-Saifullah Yusuf, the incumbent governor and vice governor, won votes in 27 districts and cities.
Meanwhile, Khofifah Indar Parawansa-Herman Sumawiredja followed as runners up by collecting large amounts of votes in 11 districts and cities, the KPUD's chairman, Andry Dewanto Ahmad, said.
Bambang DH-Said Abdullah obtained 2,200,069 votes, or 12.69 percent, and Eggi Sujana-M Sihat collected 422,932 votes, or 2.44 percent, he said.
The gubernatorial polls, which took place on Thursday, Aug 29, 2013, saw 17,895,809 voters cast ballots, which was some 60 percent out of 30 million eligible voters in East Java province. (*)
