Jakarta (Antara) - The Indonesian Camber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has set itself a target of domestic capital investment (PMDN) worth Rp120 trillion from national companies in 2014. "Domestic investment made by national companies now reaches Rp60.6 trillion. Kadin and the government are willing to double the amount of domestic investment in 2014, particularly investment outside Java. We hope the target to double the investment to Rp120 trillion in 2014 will be achieved," Natsir Mansyur, deputy general chairman of Kadin for regional empowerment, said here on Wednesday. He said that he was optimistic with the target because businesses had the spirit to encourage the development of the country's economy outside Java. "Now there are 40 million people who are ready to go home town (mudik). This means that there is wide economic gap. Java could sink while other regions are empty. We do not want to be like this in the future. There should be equitable distribution of economic development between Java and outside Java," he said. Natsir stressed the importance of investment outside Java because most of the sources of raw materials were found in the region outside Java. (*)
