Three Indonesians Fall Victim to us Shooting Case

Jakarta - The Foreign Ministry confirmed that three Indonesian citizens had been injured in a shooting case at the US cinema, The Century 16, in Aurora city, Colorado, recently. In its press release issued on Saturday, the ministry said that it had received information about the three Indonesians of the same family, who were injured in the incident from the Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles. The shooting case occurred after the midnight screening of "The Dark knight Rises" at the theater and lasted for nearly 15 minutes. The three Indonesians are Anggiat M Situmeang (45), his wife Rita Paulina Situmeang (47), and his son Prodeo Et Patria Situmeang (15). Reports suggest that Anggiat sustained bruise on his left eye, Rita suffered gunshot wound on her left arm and left foot, and Prodeo got gunshot wound on his left lower back. A gunman wearing a gas mask and black SWAT gear hurled a gas canister inside a crowded movie theater during a midnight showing of the new Batman movie Friday and then opened fire, killing 12 people and wounding nearly 60 others. Quoting data from the local police, the consulate general said 10 of the 12 people were killed on the spot and two others died at hospitals. All the victims were rushed to six nearby hospitals for intensive medical treatment. The ministry said Rita Paulina was being treated at the Denver Medical Health Center and Prodeo at the Hospital of Colorado University. Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa had contacted the relatives of the three victims in Indonesia, the ministry said. He expressed his deep concern about the incident and said the foreign ministry and its consulate general in Los Angeles would fully assist with the treatment of the three Indonesians. The ministry said it had instructed Indonesian representatives in Los Angeles to accompany the victims while they were being treated at the hospitals.(*)
