Batam, Riau Island - A 10-member delegation from the ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee (ACCC) arrived here on Thursday to oversee the implementation of the Batam Single Window (BSW) system operated by the Batam Industrial Development Authority.
The 10 delegates, who are also part of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN, include Ngurah Swajaya from Indonesia, Mohamad Alias Serbini from Myanmar, Kan Paridh from Cambodia, Wilfrido V Villacorta from the Philippines, Lim Thuan Kuan from Singapore, Latsamy Keomany from Laos, Pradap Pibulsonggram from Thailand, Dato Hasnudin Hamzah from Malaysia, and Ngyuen Tien Minh from Vietnam, said Dwi Djoko Wiwoho, a spokesman of the Batam Industrial Development Authority.
"They want to personally oversee the implementation of the Batam Single Window system, and visit the Batamindo industrial zone," he added.
The single window system has been implemented since 2011 and is expected to be fully integrated with all licensing procedures in Batam by 2014.
ASEAN wants the BSW system to be integrated with the ASEAN Single Window (ASW) system.
Wiwoho explained that the 10 member countries of ASEAN have agreed to develop their respective single window systems, which will later be integrated into the ASW. (*)
