Pacitan, E Java, (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked the Education and Culture Ministry to set up more vocational schools in each district or city in the country instead of universities or colleges. "College graduates may not get jobs after they graduate, especially if the institution was not well conceived and planned. Establishing such colleges could thus be counterproductive and only increase the number of unemployed people," the President said at a function also attended by the East Java governor and Pacitan district chie, here Friday. Therefore, the tendency of districts or cities to have their own universities was irrational, he said. The President said opening more vocational schools would be more beneficial because such schools produced skilled youths who could usually more easily find jobs. The president therefore said he supported the efforts of the education and culture ministry to set up top quality vocational schools. cational graduates are assessed more easily adapt to the working world "That's what I think Pacitan needed today," said the President. Before the conference, the President also reviewed the Pacitan Sports Arena (GOR) and Stadium construction on Jalan Jaksa Agung Suprapto. President Yudhoyono wanted the two facilities could eventually become the sport development center in Pacitan especially for volleyball and soccer. Moreover the President also warned that Pacitan local governments must also pay attention to efforts to increase the availability of clean water, because a third of many districts in Pacitan are still difficult to get clean water.
