Manado, N. Sulawesi - Diplomatic facility director of the foreign ministry Wiwit Wirsatyo said border crossing problems are normally solved by diplomacy. "Diplomatic ways as these are normally resorted in border crossing problems. We have a high respect of a country's sovereignty," Wiwit said after an integrated familiarization of the 1961 and 1963 Viennese Conferences on the application of diplomatic facilities, protocols and diplomatic security at Aryaduta hotel here on Tuesday. Wiwit when asked on the possibility of border crossing problems of the traffic of goods and people between North Sulawesi and the Philippines said in case of such problems diplomatic means are always resorted to as well as other forums to solve the issues. "The problems can always be referred to regional or bilateral forums. These forums will discuss, study and solve the issues," she said. In the Viennese convention, she added, stress will be given that each of the relevant parties building diplomatic ways need to have mutual respect, uphold national sovereignty and make benefits, for which trust and confidence need to be promoted. "Interaction will produce confidence, and trust will produce contracts or agreements, which will eventually produce profits," he said. But the most important thing when building international relations is how to promote link and match. Wiwit also reminded, cooperation and contracts developed by the regions and outsiders. Cooperation she added needs to be mutually beneficial. Indonesia, she said, has offices of other countries in 13 cities. And Manado has a Philippine consulate general. The offices of other countries in every city include building cooperation between both countries. "Therefore we need to prepare all the legal facilities, we need to develop provincial administrations and the stakeholders, so that when developing relations with outsiders everything needs already to be well arranged, measured and legally protected," he said. If these facilities had a )lready been made, she said, cooperation built with outsiders would be mutually beneficial. (*)
