Landslide Damages Five Houses in Malang

Malang, E Java - A landslide damaged Lennggoksono, Purwodadi village, Tirtoyudo sub district, Malang District, East Java Province, on Wednesday. The landslide was triggered by incessant downpours, Muji Utomo, the head of the Malang Red Cross' Disaster Mitigation Unit, said here on Wednesday. The five houses are located at the edge of a steep hill, where River Purwo flows under it and crosses Purwodadi and Pujiharjo villages. "The families whose houses were hit by the landslide, have been evacuated to their neighbors' houses, and we have sent food as relief aid, as well as help repair their houses," he said. Local people and authorities are on alert of more landslides that might occur.(*)
