Samarinda, E Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Malaysian authorities have again deported 158 Indonesian migrant workers via Nunukan district, East Kalimantan, for various violations, a police spokesman said. The Indonesian migrant workers arrived at Tunon Taka port at 07.00 p.m. on Friday by MV Francis Express, the chief of the Tunon Taka police precinct, Adj. Comr. Benny Catur Waluyo said here on Saturday. He said 93 of the Indonesian migrant workers had no necessary documents, 27 had no passports as migrant workers and 7 had no general passports. "Of the 158 Indonesian migrant workers, seven were deported via the Indonesian consulate general in Kinabalu. Thirty-seven of them were caned before being deported," he said. He said 74 of the deported Indonesian migrant workers hailed from South Sulawesi, 36 from West Nusa Tenggara and 12 from East Kalimantan and Southeast Sulawesi. "Based on the results of questioning, 47 of them want to return to their hometowns, 43 want to work and stay in Nunukan and 66 including their three children want to return to Malaysia," he said. Separately, on Saturday, spokesman of the Nunukan district administration Hasan Basri said the 158 deported Indonesian migrant workers were being accommodated at the office of migrant worker placement firm (PJTKI) and the local manpower office. "The deported Indonesian migrant workers came from the Tawau temporary detention center in Malaysia and some of them had been caned. Right now they are being accommodated at the PTTKI and local manpower office. The migrant workers who want to return to Malaysia should take care of travel documents," he said.
