Bogor, W Java - The World Zakat Forum (WZF) ended its two-day meeting at the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB)'s International Convention Center (IICC) on Wednesday with an agreement to set up an International Zakat Research Forum (IZRF). The formation of IZRF was part of WZF's efforts to strengthen its role in developing zakat in various Muslim countries, the chief of the WZF's local organizing committee, Lukman M. Baga said. "Hopefully, the formation of IZRF will be able to strengthen WZF's role in promoting Muslims' awareness to pay zakat," Lukman said. The chief of the organizing committee of WFZ's international zakat conference, Irfan Syauqi Beik when reading out the agreement said IZRF would hopefully serve as a means to intensify communication and cooperation in developing researches in the zakat field. "The results of the researches to be carried out by WZF researchers will be published in international zakat journals by IZRF," said Lukman who is also a lecturer of school of economics and management at the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB). By publishing IZRF scientific journals, WZF's campaigns for zakat awareness could be carried out in a sustainable way so that the campaigns would promote world Muslims' awareness to pay and distribute zakat to those entitled to it, he said. Initiated by WZF the conference was participated in by delegations from Indonesia, Uganda, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Algeria. The meeting themed eradicating poverty and promoting Muslims' living standard was closed by IPB deputy rector Dr Arif Imam Suroso.
