Jakarta, (Antara)- An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter Scale hit Tasikmalaya, West Java, on Tuesday at 00:24 a.m. local time, but the tremor did not have potential to trigger tsunami.

The quake's epicenter was located 8.40 degree southern latitude, and 107.80 degree eastern longitude, some 91 km southwest of Tasikmalaya, and at a depth of 10 km, the Meteorological, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said on its website.

Reports on possible damage or casualties were not immediately available.(*)
