Tianjin, Tiongkok (Antara) - The city administration of Tianjin, China, has started building a showroom in that city for main commodities of East Java.
"The construction should be finished this year. In fact it is expected that in July it would be commissioned," deputy director for Asia of the International Service of the Tianjin city administration Li Wenjia told visiting reporters from East Java in Tianjin on Thursday.
Li Wenjia said the showroom would also be used for commodities of a number of other countries having cooperation agreement with the Tianjin city administration, but the priority would be given to commodities from East Java and the United States.
The showroom would introduce East Java to the people of Tianjin that they know more about the Indonesian province and its main commodities that might be needed in Tianjin, he said.
He said the main commodities of East Java would be given facility and priority in marketing as they would not be charged with taxes. "The City administration of Tianjin has abolished taxes since April 2015," he added.
He said Tianjin and East Java also cooperate in tourism, education and training program, he said, adding, the cooperation between Tianjin and East Java has been developed since 2012, and the cooperation had been fruitful.
"Our hope is that the cooperation would be more fruitful in the future especially after the operation of the showroom . More East Java commodities could be sent to the market in Tianjin," he said.
The economy of Tianjin including its industrial sector has expanded rapidly over the past several years following the tax free policy that has drawn many investors to Tianjin.
The tax free industrial zone has contributed to flourishing business in Tianjin as indicated by the growing number of companies by 1,588 to 24,000 at present in a number of years. Foreign direct investment in Tianjin is now valued at US$9.5 billion AS.(*)
