Beijing, April 26 (Antara)- Indonesia and China held the fifth dialog, discussing cooperation in security, legal, and political affairs as well as their impacts on the region, here, Tuesday.

Indonesia's delegation in the meeting was led by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, while China's delegation was headed by State Councilor Yang Jiechi.

The bilateral political, legal, and security cooperation between the two countries have run smoothly and is even getting stronger.

In the legal field, the two nations have established cooperation in tackling transnational crimes, such as drug trafficking and cybercrimes.  

In the defense field, Indonesia and China have expanded cooperation in areas, including the exchanges of military students, joint exercise, transfer of technology, as well as army and naval dialogs.

The holding of the bilateral dialog between the chief security minister and the Chinese state councilor is an implementation of one of the points in the Joint Declaration on Indonesia-China Strategic Partnership signed on April 25, 2005.

The earlier dialogs were held in Beijing in September 2006, in Jakarta in January 2010, and again in Beijing in March 2012.

During the course of the third dialog, the two countries had agreed to change the biennial dialog to an annual one.

Both heads of delegations hoped that the dialog would strengthen the bilateral ties between the two nations.

At the conclusion of the dialog, the two countries are expected to ink a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in political, legal and security affairs.(*)
