Jakarta (Antara) - The national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has placed "Wonderful Indonesia" logo on every plane serving international routes as an effort to promote Indonesia's tourism, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said here on Tuesday. "Garuda Indonesia has responded to the ministry's request that international planes shall bear the tourism logo and tagline," Mari said during an event at Garuda Indonesia's hangar on Tuesday officiating the use of Wonderful Indonesia logo. According to the minister, since 2008, Garuda Indonesia had been helping in the promotion of Indonesia's tourism by placing Visit Indonesia logo on its planes. "The Wonderful Indonesia tagline is a rebranding effort of the government, replacing the previous tagline Visit Indonesia," Mari said. Meanwhile, CEO of Garuda Indonesia Emirsyah Satar who had also attended the event said his company had been supporting Indonesia's tourism promotion for years. "The logo can be found on Garuda's international fleet, namely 11 Airbus A330-200, five Airbus A330-300, and five Boeing B777-300ER," Satar said. Indonesia had set the target of international tourists at 9.3-9.5 million in 2014. According to data from the National Statistics Agency (BPS), international arrivals through the country's three major international gateways--Bali, Jakarta, and Batam--had experienced strong growth in the first quarter of 2014.
