Bangka Forest Should Function as "City's Lung", Says Official

Sungailiat, Babel Province (Antara) - The much-visited forest in Sungailiat, Bangka-Belitung (Babel) province, should function as a lung, providing fresh air to Sungailiat city, Bangka district head Tarmizi Saat said here on Saturday. "Besides becoming the city¿s lungs, the forest can also function as a place for family recreation because of its strategic location," he noted. Located across from Sungailiat Grand Mosque, the lush forest with dense green foliage has fresh air for the public to enjoy, he added. "Being in a very strategic location, this forest can be an alternative for family holidays," Tarmizi said, adding that the public should help protect the forest. "It is time for the people to go back to nature because pollution in big cities is getting worse. Therefore, this forest is the best place for the public to spend their holidays, or to do exercise for their health," he noted. (*)
