Bojonegoro, East Java (Antara) - The Bojonegoro prosecution office said it would soon send Wahyuningsih , former treasurer of the district legislative assembly to jail based on a decision of the Supreme Court.
Wahyuningsih was convicted in a corruption case of Rp13.2 billion in traveling costs for 2006/2007.
Bojonegoro prosecution official Nusirwan Syahrul said on Monday the prosecution office had received a copy of the decision of the Supreme Court from the district court saying that Wahyuningsih is punished with 6-year jail term and a fine of Rp500 million and that she is required to return to the state Rp2.7 billion.
"Execution of the order on Wahyuningsih would be carried out soon based on the decision of the Supreme Court," Nusirwan said.
The decision says Wahyuningsih was found guilty of being involved in embezzlement of Rp13.2 billion in state fund for use as travel cost by the council members in 2006/2007.
The Supreme Court slapped a heavier punishment than a one by the district court of only a 18 months imprisonment with a fine of Rp200 million and a requirement to return Rp311 million in state fund.
The convict is required to settle the payment of the fine and the return of the state fund after the convict serves one month in jail, Nusirwan said.
The prosecution office will soon take inventory of the assets of the convict, he said.
The prosecution office will take over the assets without having to prove that the assets had been procured with fund from corruption, he said.
The corruption case also involved chairman of the Bojonegoro council Tamam Syaifuddin, two deputy chairman of the council Mochtar Setijohadi and Maksum Amin and the council secretary Prihadie.
Tamam Syaifuddin and Prihadie, are already serving jail term in Sukamiskin prison, West Java, Jabar, and Mochtar Setijohadi and Maksum Amin are in the Bojonegoro prison.(*)
