Pekanbaru, Riau Province (Antara) - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) has completed an air combat training course with the Royal Singapore Air Force (RSAF) at the Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base of Pekanbaru, Riau Province. The TNI AU Chief of Staff Marshall B Putu Dunia led the closing ceremony of the Joint Fighter Weapon Course (JFWC), along with Chief of RSAF Major General Hoo Cher Mou on Friday. "We held the JFWC together to improve air personnel's combat abilities, as well as to deepen the warm relationship existing between Indonesia and Singapore," Dunia said in his closing speech. The closing ceremony was attended by several senior officers of TNI AU and the RSAF, as well as hundreds of soldiers. Meanwhile, Hoo Cher stated in his speech that Singaporeans appreciated the several join exercises, which had been held during the last few months with Indonesia. "We appreciate the Indonesian Government's warm response in organizing the join exercise at the Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base," Hoo Cher said. The Head of Information at the Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base Major Sus Filfadri pointed out that the JFWC had been a combat training for fighter planes. At least 16 fighter planes of TNI AU and six jet planes of the RSAF took part in the course. "Indonesia has deployed several fighter planes from the Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base, the Iswahyudi Air Base in Madiun, E Java and the Pontianak Air Base in W Kalimantan," Filfadri noted. The TNI AU deployed Hawk 100/200, along with F 16 jet fighters took part in the second training course held at the Air Base. The closing ceremony was also attended by senior officials from the Riau Regional Police and the Indonesian Army. (*)
