Jakarta (Antara) - The Indonesian rupiah currency fell 5 points against the US dollar on Monday evening, amid worries about the Federal Reserve's planned reduction of its financial stimulus. The rupiah traded at Rp11,340 per dollar at the Jakarta Interbank market on Monday evening, against Rp11,335 per dollar last Friday. The rupiah weakened against the dollar as investors worried about the Fed reducing its stimulus over the next few months, Zulfirman Basir, money market analyst from Monex Investido Futures, said. "Investors are still worried about the Fed accelerating the reduction of its financial stimulus after data on the weekend showed the continued expansion of the US manufacturing sector," he said. Meanwhile, Indonesian economic data released last Friday shows an obstacle to the rupiah's performance, as inflation remains high and the trade balance recording a deficit. (*)
