Jakarta (Antara) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to host a diplomatic gathering at the Cipanas Presidential Palace, Bogor, West Java, on Saturday. The gathering, according to Presidential Spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha through a short message, is aim at fostering friendship among nations. "The diplomatic gathering will be held informally to foster friendship among nations," Julian said. He said that so far no plan had been made to turn the diplomatic gathering into an annual event. President Yudhoyono on Friday held a meeting at the Cipanas Presidential Palace to discuss subsidies and fiscal policies. The meeting was a continuation of a meeting on economic affairs held in the Indonesian resort island of Bali on March 28, 2013. In the Cipanas meeting, Yudhoyono wished any policy taken to curb oil consumption should be smooth. Presidential special aide for economic affairs Firmansyah explained that the President wished to assure that the calculation was right and the implementation was smooth while compensation must reach the target. He said the use of subsidized gasoline must be curbed to reduce fiscal pressure so that the budget will remain sound. The quota of subsidized gasoline has been set at 46.01 million kiloliters in the 2013 budget with a subsidy of Rp193.8 trillion. The subsidy is expected to swell and disrupt the 2103 budget unless consumption is curbed. (*)
