The Indonesian government is accelerating the construction of village warehouses and outlets under the Red and White Village Cooperative (KDMP) program, aiming for completion by March 2026, Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono said on Friday.
During a working visit to Namang Village in Central Bangka District, Bangka Belitung Islands, Juliantono said the effort follows a new Presidential Instruction mandating the development of warehouses, outlets, and supporting facilities to strengthen village-based economic empowerment.
“With this instruction, governors, regents, and mayors can immediately inventory village land for warehouse and outlet construction according to established standards,” he said.
Physical construction has already begun in several regions, with about 5,000 warehouses and outlets currently under development.
“We are cataloging 1,000 land plots every day, and those with complete data are immediately approved for construction,” Juliantono added.
He highlighted the Bangka Belitung Islands Province as showing the fastest progress, with more than 300 villages and sub-districts ready for development.
“This achievement reflects strong support from the provincial government as well as local leaders,” he said.
The minister emphasized that land inventory is the main priority before large-scale construction proceeds.
“We hope the operational phase, including land verification and physical development, can be completed soon,” he said.
The KDMP program aims to build a nationwide network of warehouses and outlets managed by local cooperatives to boost rural economies, improve market access, and stabilize commodity prices.
Officials say the initiative is part of the government’s broader plan to reduce regional disparities and strengthen Indonesia’s supply chain resilience.
