Amman (ANTARA/Xinhua-OANA) - King Abdullah II of Jordan called for regional and international efforts to help end the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, state-run Petra news agency reported Sunday. At a meeting with Tony Blair, envoy of the Middle East quartet, the Jordanian leader said Israel's ongoing aggression hampers the peace efforts and is a serious threat to security and stability in the region. The Israeli aggression increases the suffering of the Palestinian people, he said. On Middle East peace process, the Jordanian leader underlined the important role the quartet has played in reaching for a lasting and just solution to the Palestinian issue. Blair voiced appreciation of Jordan's efforts to achieve peace and enhance security and stability in the Middle East. He also stressed the importance of Jordan's support to the Palestinians under the current circumstances.(*)
