Padang, W Sumatra - Four dengue fever patients were admitted to M Djamil hospital this week in Padang, West Sumatra, hospital spokesman Gustavianof said here on Saturday. "The four patients are Marsa (4) and Faris (11) from Siteba village in Nanggalo sub-district, Devi Cinia (13) from Gunung Pangilun, and, Miko Pratama (22) from Bungus Teluk Kabung," Gustavianof said. Further, one of these four patients has since returned home, while the remaining patients are undergoing intensive treatments. According to Gustavianof, hundreds of dengue fever patients had been treated at the M Djamil hospital between January and April 2012, while only one of them died from the disease. "We are afraid that the number of patients will probably increase because the weather remains unstable," Gustavianof said. Earlier on Friday, he said an 85-year-old suspected rabies patient, Kaman, died at the hospital. "The patient from Tiku village in Agam district was admitted to the hospital at 11 p.m. on Thursday and died at 8.30 on Friday morning, but we have yet to determine whether he was rabies-positive," Gustavianof stated. He said Kaman died moments after he was removed from the hospital's isolation room to a Padma room. (*)
