Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati ensured that the state budget is also channeled for efforts to improve the welfare of teachers in the country.

"The state budget #UangKita is also focused on education, one of which is through the improvement of teachers' welfare," she wrote in an Instagram post uploaded on @smindrawati on Thursday.

She noted that the total budget used for the welfare of civil servant and non-civil servant teachers in 2025 rose by Rp16.7 trillion (around US$1.05 billion) to Rp81.6 trillion (around US$5.14 billion).

Moreover, to improve quality and equitable education services, funding worth Rp17.5 trillion (around US$1.1 billion) has been allotted for rehabilitating, repairing, and renovating 10,440 state and private schools next year.

"Efforts to improve the welfare and quality of education in Indonesia will not stop here. The Ministry of Finance will continue to support all the good intentions for the sake of improvement in Indonesia's education quality," she affirmed.

On Thursday, the finance minister accompanied President Prabowo Subianto to the 2024 Teachers' Day commemoration event held by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in Jakarta.

At the event, President Prabowo underscored that the Red and White Cabinet prioritizes education in the 2025 state budget allocation.

He stated that this policy is a strategic step to eliminate poverty and push the progress of the nation.

"I think for the first time in Indonesian history, the allocation for education in the 2025 state budget is the highest in the history of the Republic of Indonesia," he remarked.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the government has set priority allocations for the 2025 state budget, where education receives Rp724.3 trillion (around US$45.69 billion) from the target state revenue of Rp3,005.1 trillion in the 2025 draft state budget.
