Jakarta - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono opened the 11th General Assembly of ASEAN Law Association (ALA) at Bali International Convention Center (BICC) in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Thursday morning.
The regular general assembly of ALA this year in Bali is attended by more than 300 representatives from 10 ASEAN member states and ASEAN Law Association President Pham Quoc Anh.
Established in 1979, the ASEAN Law Association is a non-government organization of lawyers in the ASEAN region to bring together under one roof all the different branches of the law profession - judges, law teachers, law practitioners and government lawyers.
The ALA is a dynamic organization, moving forward in collaborative efforts to understand and harmonize laws in the region. It continues to play a complementary role in promoting a common ASEAN focus on key issues and policies.
After opening the ALA general assembly, President Yudhoyono and
his delegation will then visit Central Java where they will attend a grand harvest festival at Bener village in Sragen district.
He is accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi and Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam. (*)
