The Indonesian Government aims to reduce the open unemployment rate to 4.5–5 percent next year, according to the 2025 State Budget Draft (RAPBN).

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed this while presenting the RAPBN and the 2025 Financial Notes at a plenary session of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Friday.

The president said the proposed state budget draft is expected to reduce the number of unemployed people, which reached 7.2 million in February.

Jokowi also remarked that by 2025, the poverty rate is targeted to decrease to 7-8 percent, the Gini ratio to 0.379-0.382, and the Human Capital Index to 0.56.

He noted that the Farmer Exchange Rate is expected to rise to 115-120, while the Fishermen Exchange Rate should remain at 105-108.

The government recorded that economic growth was maintained at around 5 percent, surpassing the global average of 3.4 percent.

Jokowi noted that during his 10-year tenure, the government added 21.3 million workers. Indonesia’s debt ratio remains one of the lowest among G20 and ASEAN countries.

Indonesia’s export value increased by more than 70 percent, reaching US$259 billion in 2023. The trade balance has also recorded a consistent surplus for the last 51 months.
