Batam, Riau Islands, (Antara) - The Batam Immigration Office in the Riau Islands Province has deported 121 foreign nationals since January until April 25, 2017, according to spokesman of the Immigration Office Teguh Prayitno.

"They have been deported on various grounds, including for violating visitor visa norms by working in Batam," Prayitno remarked here on Tuesday.

He stated that deportation was a decisive step taken by the Batam Special Immigration Office as part of the enforcement of immigration laws against foreign nationals.

According to Prayitno, the 121 foreign nationals who had been deported from Batam since January were from Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, China, Norway, Liberia, Australia, the Netherlands, Great Britain, and the United States.

Prayitno added that some 156 other foreign nationals from China, India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and the Philippines had also been denied entry since January until April 2017.(*)
