Jakarta, (Antara)- An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter Scale jolted Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra Province, on Saturday at 10:52 p.m. local time.

The quake's epicenter was located at 2.5 degrees southern latitude, and 99.51 degrees eastern longitude, some 125 km southeast of Mentawai, and at a depth of 21 km, the National Meteorological, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said on its official website.

The mild tremor was felt by inhabitants of Tua Pejat town, Mentawai, at an intensity of II MMI (Modified Mercalli Intensity).(*)
