Yogyakarta, (Antara) - Indonesia is predicted to break into the ranks of four largest in gross domestic products (GDP) in the world in 2050 based on per capita spending.

Indonesia is expected to leapfrog from the 9th to 4th and Brazil to jump from the 7th to 5th, Hal Hill an economist  from the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University said here on Saturday.

Hill said in the future, European economic big powers, may not be as advanced as they have been as the global economic center is shifting from the Atlantic to the Asia Pacific region.

He predicted that China, India, the United States, Indonesia and Brazil would be the world's biggest economies, saying three of them are from Asia.

He said China would continue to lead in GDP based on per capital spending capacity, and India, now the third, would exchange position with the United States.(*)
