Surabaya, E Java, May 6 (Antara) - Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini is set to induct several President Directors of municipal government-owned companies in August this year.

Many posts of President Directors of municipal government-owned companies have remained vacant as the Mayor or Governor-elect cannot induct them, the Chief of the Economic Section of the Surabaya city government, Khalid, said here on Friday.

"This is because of the mandate of the regional election law in which Mayors and Governors-elect are not allowed to formulate strategic policies up to six months after they are inducted," he said.

Surabaya Mayor Tri was inducted only on February 17 this year.

This policy has led to posts of Directors of city government-owned companies remaining vacant and accordingly the performance of the companies being affected, Khalid pointed out.

The city's government-owned companies are currently being managed by acting Directors, with some of these companies being the municipal drinking water company PDAM Surya Sembada, market operator PD Pasar Surya, and slaughter house PD Rumah Potong Hewan.

He further said that four city government-owned companies have named their President Director candidates. However, only the slaughter house has proposed several candidates for the post of its President Director.

"For the time being, the selection of candidates for the post of President Director of PD Pasar Surya has been stopped due to the absence of the mayor's expert team. It is the expert team that will conduct a fit and proper test for the candidates," Khalid added. (*) (S012/INE/B003)
