Jakarta (Antara) - The number of tourists visiting Indonesia
rose 5.47 percent to 793,500 in May from 752,400 in April, according to
the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

Cumulatively, the number of tourist arrivals from January to May
reached 3.84 million, a 3.85 percent increase compared to the same
period last year, BPS Chairman Suryamin said here on Wednesday.

The number of tourists visiting Indonesia via Sam Ratulangi Airport in
North Sulawesi rose 34.94 percent, Entikong in West Kalimantan 17.81
percent, and Batam in Riau Islands 11.86 percent.

However, the number of tourist arrivals through Adi Sumarmo Airport in
Central Java and Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta fell 42.90 percent
and 4.19 percent respectively.

Compared to April, the number of tourist arrivals through Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali dropped 7.34 percent, he said.

"After all, on a yearly basis, the number of tourist arrivals via
Ngurah Rai Airport in May 2015 is better because it rose 0.41 percent to
287,100 from 286,000 in May 2014," he said.

The government aims to attract 10.06 million foreign visitors to
Indonesia this year, an increase of 7 percent from the 2014 target.(*)
