Pamekasan, E Java (Antara) -- The Regional Representatives Council (DPD) has proposed a bill on creative economy as part of efforts to protect products developed by Indonesians in the country, a legislator said. DPD secretary general Gede Pasek Suardika pitched the idea for the creative economy bill after observing the high revenue that some developed countries, such as South Korea, earn from the sector. "The revenue earned from creative economy amounts to trillions of rupiah," Suardika said after inducting board members of the Indonesia Movement Association (PPI) here on Saturday. Suardika, the former member of the Democratic Party (PD), further noted that creative economy has been growing rapidly in Indonesia. However, there is no legal protection to regulate and support the economic sector that relies on the creativity of the community. (*) Reported by Abd Aziz
