Palembang, S Sumatra (Antara) - Thirty-eight countries were competing in the International Qur'an Recitation held in Palembang of South Sumatra from September 23-27, 2014. From 40 countries, there are two, Qatar and Yemen, which are not engaging their participants to the "Tahfidz" and "Tilawah" Qur'an competition that was held Thursday, according to Multi Media Staff of the Qur'an Recital Competition, Murgan. Murgan said the competition was divided into two sessions. The "Tahfidz" competition was held from morning to afternoon and the "Tilawah" competition was held in the evening. There are 33 participants for the "Tahfidz" competition while there are 13 women and 37 men in the "Tilawah" competition. There were 12 countries competing on Thursday, while at least nine countries had taken part on Wednesday. Some participants who have followed the competition were: 1. Bai Hui Jun of China 2. Sanhaji Najmeddine of Tunisia 3. Abbas Bin Ahmad Ally of Tanzania 4. Mohamed Maher Aqboelmeguid Abdelaziz of Egypt 5. Nafiqin Bin Karim Elhad El Yashrouttou Nafiqin of France 6. Ahmed Zaid Mahmoud Abu Nouf of Sudan 7. Arif Abdullah Sagran of Timor Leste 8. Sidiq Ali Bin Shofique Ali Sadiq of England 9. Adeeb Bin Hoqssain Haarneker of South Africa 10. Yusuf Mubiru of Uganda 11. Abdechafi Bin Omar El Issati of Nederland The Deputy Chairman of International Qur'an Recitation Competition Richard Cahyadi said there are 80 participants from 40 countries in the competition which was inaugurated by Vice President Boediono on Tuesday, September 23.
