Mataram, W.Nusa Tenggara (Antara) - West Nusa Tenggara's culture and tourism office will hold Tambora mount climbing to welcome the peak event "Tambora Greets the World" to be held on April 10, 2015, a local administration said here on Friday.
Sixty mountain climbers have been registered by head of marketing division of West Nusa Tenggara's culture and tourism office Muhariyadi Kurniawan here on Friday.
The participants are journalists, nature-loving students from University of Mataram, and officials of Dompu District culture and tourism office.
Muhariyadi said the mountain climbing event is an effort to promote Mount Tambora. People are expected to know much more about Tambora, which had tremendous volcanic eruptions on April 10, 1815.
"The two hundredth anniversary of the eruption falls next year. We want the massive eruption incident as an icon to attract tourists visiting West Nusa Tenggara," he added. (*)
