Surabaya, E Java (Antara) - The Surabaya city administration in East Java is building a state nursing school in West Surabaya as part of an effort to evenly distribute educational services in the city.
The school is being built at Tengger Kandangan Street in Benowo Sub-district, West Surabaya, chief of the vocational school construction project, Lilik Arjanto, said here, Saturday.
"In the first phase, we are building a three-storied building," he said.
The construction of the school building, which has now entered the final phase, was scheduled for completion in November this year, he said.
The project would cost more than Rp6 billion and was taken from the city budget, Lilik, who is also an official of the city housing, planning and urban development and spatial layout office, said.
"After the first phase of the project is completed this year, the second phase will be carried out in 2015," he said.
The second phase of the project would cover the construction of a three-storied building and a laboratory, he said.
The nursing school was not far from the Bakti Dharma Husada regional general hospital so as to enable its students to conduct practices easily, he said.
Meanwhile, spokesman of the Surabaya City Education Office, Eko Prasetyoningsih, said she did not know much about the project. (*)
"To decide what expertise the vocational school will focus on, we need time because there must be a survey and study. So I don't know what expertise the vocational school in Tengger Kandangan will focus on," she said. ***3***
