Jakarta (Antara) - The Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals (ICMI) has rejected the presence of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), as it is against the state ideology "Pancasila" and the state constitution (UUD '45), ICMI Presidium said.
"The ISIS ideology is not in line with the state ideology 'Pancasila' and the state constitution (UUD '45)," ICMI Presidium, Prof Nanat Fatah Natsir, reported here on Wednesday.
Natsir noted that Indonesian Muslims should develop Islam as a grace to the world, peaceful and free from violence.
Earlier, coordinating minister for security affairs Djoko Suyanto said that the government had rejected the ISIS ideology because it was against the state ideology "Pancasila" and unity in diversity.
Djoko further pointed out that the ISIS ideology must be prevented, and Indonesia should not become the place for ISIS development.
Meanwhile, Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin noted that ISIS was a threat not only to Indonesia but also to other countries.
Lukman added that the ministry had discussed the seriousness of the threat with the police, the state intelligence agency, and the military. (*) Reported by Dewanto Samodro
