Bandarlampung (Antara) - An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale struck the waters southwest of Sabang city in the westernmost Indonesian province of Aceh on Monday, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said. The earthquake which struck at 03.00 western Indonesian time was located at 3.92 degrees northern latitude and 90.95 degrees eastern longitude or 527 km southwest of Sabang at a depth of 41 km, the agency said. The quake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami, it said. A 5.0-magnitude earthquake is considered moderate and capable of causing considerable damage. (*)
