Jakarta (Antara) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Mari Elka Pangestu has said national film production is expected to increase significantly this year or about 18.4 percent from the previous year. Minister Mari stated that up to April this year the number of national production had reached 45 titles and they had passed film censorship, up by 18.4 percent from that in the same period last year. "Last year, we produced 105 titles of national films and we are optimistic this year the number will increase significantly," the minister noted on Friday. The minister expressed optimism that the increase in the number of production would also be followed by improved quality. After all, it has been proven that many Indonesian national films have been reckoned with in the world. She cited Indonesia's film "The Raid 2: Brandal" which became popular among the international film society. "In international film festivals, international film producers often asked about the film to the Indonesian delegation," the minister noted. Of the 45 national films titles produced up to April this year, some had been said to have good quality and had been successful on the wide screen. These films included "99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa Part2/99 light on Europe Skies," "Sepatu Dahlan/Dahlan's Shoes", "Princess," "Bajak Laut & Allien/Pirates & Alien", "Kau dan Aku Cinta Indonesia/You and I Love Indonesia", " Sayap Kecil Garuda/Small Wing of Eagle", "Comic *", and " Killers.
