Bogor, W Java (Antara) - The United Development Party (PPP) ended its third national working meeting here on Thursday afternoon by adopting a four-point decision to ensure the continuation of the Islam-based party.
Under the decision, participants of the meeting, which took place at the Seruni Hotel in West Java's Bogor district, agreed to accept a reconciliation edict (fatwa) from chief of the party's sharia council KH Maimoen Zuber.
The participants agreed to give a mandate to the party's consultative council collectively and collegially to lobby with other political parties as part of efforts to form a coalition with other parties in the days before the July 7 presidential poll.
They also agreed to give a mandate to the party's central executive board to convene a national leadership meeting in the first week of May 2014 to decide the party's coalition partner and its presidential and vice presidential candidates.
In the fourth point of the decision, the participants gave a mandate to the party's central executive board to hold an earlier-than-scheduled congress one month after the presidential poll.
The third national leadership meeting also served as a means of reconciliation between the party's general chairman and all its regional executive boards. (*)
