Jombang, East Java (Antara) - Former president Soeharto's daughter, Titik Soeharto, attended the Golkar Party campaign rally at the Darul Ulum Islamic Boarding School's Sports Building in Jombang, East Java, on Saturday. She said she had deliberately come to the rally, along with her entourage, to witness the enthusiasm of the party's supporters and hoped the party would win the legislative elections on April 9. "Do not forget. Come on April 9 and do not be absent or make a wrong choice, or else you will suffer for the next five years," she said during her speech at the rally. She declined to say whether the realization of the current government's programs was better than that of her father's, or whether improvements were needed. But, "it is the people everywhere who said that it was better before (during Soeharto's era)," she said. Other Golkar Party figures attending the rally were Agung Laksono, coordinating minister for people's welfare, and Syarif Cicip Sutarjo, the marine resource and fisheries minister. Thousands of people attended the rally, which was highlighted by performances of local singers. After campaigning, the party board members left the location to return to Jakarta by helicopter. (*)
