Malang, East Java (Antara) - The displaced victims of Mount Kelud eruption in Malang district, East Java, started suffering from respiratory problem, official said. Health coordinator at Ganesha refugee camp in the town of Batu, dr Santoso Budiarjo said here on Sunday that since the eruption on Thursday hundreds of evacuees have suffered from respiratory infection. "Hundreds of evacuees start suffering from respiratory infection as a result of volcanic ashes but the victims have so far in good condition because they are immediately treated at the refugee camps," Santoso said. Further, he added that the number of displaced victims who suffered from respiratory problem could increase because they underestimated the case and were reluctant to have themselves checked at local health command posts. Therefore he called on health officials at the health command post to monitor and make coordination with the victims to find out and to treat them if they had the problem. "We will continue to make coordination with the victims and make every effort to give them the best possible health service," Santoso said.(*)
