Bandung, W Java, Feb 7 (Antara) - The Islamic-based United Development Party (PPP) has set a target of garnering 12 percent votes in the 2014 legislative general election, stated the party's general chairman Suryadharma Ali.
"If PPP reaches its set target of votes, then it will help the party to secure 67 seats in the parliament," Suryadharma Ali, who is concurrently the Religious Affairs Minister, noted after opening the party's second national congress here on Friday.
Suryadharma expressed optimism that his party will be able to achieve the set target if the party's prospective legislators can work optimally and show concern towards the community.
"I believe that if the PPP's legislative candidates can work hard, then a 12 percent target of votes is well within our reach," the party leader claimed.
Meanwhile, the PPP steering committee (SC) Chairman Lukman Hakim Saifuddin remarked that the party's second national congress was also scheduled to discuss the party's prospective presidential candidate. (*)
