Tangerang, Banten province (Antara) - The Soekarno-Hatta Custom and Excise officers recently arrested three Malaysian nationals for attempting to smuggle 1586 grams of methamphetamine worth Rp2 billion to Indonesia, officials stated.
"The three suspects were flying from Hong Kong to Jakarta. We arrested them after getting suspicious about their movements in the airport. After conducting a thorough search of their bags and their bodies, we found the methamphetamine hidden in the suspects' underwear that they had worn," Soekarno-Hatta airport's Chief of Custom and Excise Office Okto Irianto stated here on Wednesday.
According to him the suspects were now in police custody. All three could be charged under Regulation Number 35/2009 on drugs with a possible sentence ranging from 15 years in jail to the death penalty. (*)
