Jakarta (Antara) - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) said it hopes to put into operation five new toll roads in 2014 totaling 48 kilometers in length. The five new toll roads are the 7.07 km Kebon Jeruk-Ulujami section of the northern Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR W2), the 2 kilometer Kedunghalang section of the Bogor Ring Road, 12.3 km Ungaran-Bawen section of the Semarang-Solo toll road, 12-km Gempol-Pandaan toll road, and 13.9 km Gempol-Rembang section of the Gempol-Pasuruan toll road, president of the state owned highway construction company Adityawarman said. This year, Jasa Marga has finished the construction of two new toll roads totaling 18.23 km -- the 12.7 km Bali Mandara which has been operational since 23 September 2012, and 5.53 km Kebun Jeruk-Cileduk section of northern JORR W2, which is in the process of trial run, Adityawarman said. "The Kebun Jeruk-Cileduk section of the JORR W2 is expected to be commissioned by the public works minister after the trial run," he said here on Thursday . He said construction of the entire sections of the northern JORR W2 are expected to be completed in 2014 after the completion of the 2.07 km last section of Cileduk - Ulujami, which is expected to be finished in June 2014. After the completion of the entire sectors, all toll road networks in the city and ones linking the city and outer areas including the Jakarta-Cikampek , Jagorawi, Jakarta-Serpong and the Soekarno Hatta airport toll roads, would be fully interconnected. "The operation of the northern JORR W2 Utara is also expected to reduce congestion in city toll roads by 30 percent as vehicles from Bekasi and Bogor heading for Jakarta's Soekarno Hatta airport and Tangerang vice versa would no longer need to use the city toll roads," he said. The operation of part of the Bogor Ring Road up to Kedungbadak in 2014, would reduce congestion in the Jagorawi toll road between Yasmin and the capital city . The operation of the Ungaran-Bawen section of the Semarang-Solo toll road would ease the congestion in the arterial road between the two Central Java cities. The toll road would also cut short the time to cover the distance between Bawen and Semarang from normally 90 minuted to only 30 minutes by car. "The Gempol-Pasuruan section I and Gempol-Pandaan will provide new connection between Surabaya, Banyuwangi and Malang in East Java," Adityawarman said. (*)
