Jakarta (Antara) - Vice President Boediono is scheduled to pay a working visit in London from October 28 to November 1 to attend a number of international meetings. While in London, Boediono will attend the World Islamic Economic Forum on October 29, give a general lecture at Oxford University on October 30, and attend Open Government Partnership (OGP) Summit on October 31, said Yopie Hidayat, the vice president's spokesman, in a statement released on Sunday. Boediono will also meet with British Prime Minister David Cameron. At the meeting, the United Kingdom is expected to hand over the lead co-chair of the OGP to Indonesia which will host the OGP Summit next year, Yopie said. According to Head of the Presidential Working Unit for the Supervision and Management of Development (UKP4) Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, the OGP currently has 60 members, including Indonesia. Launched in 2011, OGP is seeking to provide an international platform for domestic reformers committed to making their governments more open, accountable, and responsive to citizens. Kuntoro said the vice president's attendance at the OGP Summit will be of great importance to show the world that Indonesia has made every effort to improve its services to the public. "As many as 1,200 participants from 89 countries will attend the annual meeting so the vice president's attendance will be of great importance to share experiences with other countries in improving public services," he said. Indonesia is one of the eight founders of the OGP. The others are Brazil, Mexico, Norway, the Philippines, South Africa, Britain and the United States. (*)
