The Indonesian archers, who are being groomed for the SEA Games 2013 in Myanmar, lost to their Iranian and Malaysian counterparts in the men's and women's team compound events. The Iranian archery team claimed a gold medal for Esmaeil Abedi, a silver medal for Amir Kazempour and a bronze medal for Hamzah Nekouei. In the women's team compound event, Malaysia, which is expected to be Indonesia's strongest opponent at the SEA Games 2013, won a gold medal for Nor Rizah Ishak and a silver medal for Sarita Cham Nong. Nino Abedi of Iran won a bronze medal in the event. Indonesian archers I Gusti Nyoman Puruhito and Dellie Treessyandinda reached the semifinals, but were eliminated in the match for a bronze medal. Meanwhile, I Gusti Nyoman Puruhito, who ousted Mohammad Zaki Mahazan of Malaysia in the quarterfinals by 142 points to 137, lost to Amir Kazempour of Iran by 146 points to 137 in the semifinals and suffered another defeat to Hamzeh Nekouei of Iran by 140 points to 133 to win a bronze medal.
