Jakarta (Antara) - The number of foreign tourists arrivals in Jakarta in April 2013 stood at 168,989, down 12.04 percent from 192,108 in March 2013, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) for Jakarta office here on Monday. The foreign tourists arrived in Jakarta through three gates, namely Soekarno-Hatta airport, Tanjung Priok Port and Halim Perdanakusumah airport. But compared with foreign tourist arrivals in the same month in 2012, the arrivals last April is 0.86 percent bigger. The big ten countries exporting their foreign tourists to Jakarta in April were Malaysia (20,444 tourists), China (19,734), Japan (14,893), Singapore (13,222), Korea Selatan (7,932), Saudi Arabia (7,177), Australia (6,126), India (5,932 ), the United States(5,914) and the Philippines (5,553). Regarding the hotel occupancy rate in Jakarta, the BPS records showed that in April 2013, it reached 58.60 percent, up 0.84 points from that in March 2013 which stood at 57.76 percent. The occupancy rate in April 2012 reached 57.91 percent showing that the occupancy rate in April 2013 was higher 0.69 points. In the Indonesian tourist resort island of Bali, more than than 969,382 foreign tourists have visited Bali in the first four months of 2013, up 3.60 percent from the same period last year when the figure was recorded at 935,724. "The number of tourists from eight of the top ten sources of foreign tourists in Bali rose significantly while that of two others declined," Head of the Bali Provincial Statistics Office Gede Suarsa said on Monday. Bali has set the target of tourist arrivals for 2013 at 2.8 million, while more than 2.94 foreign tourists visited the world-renowned tourist island last year. Gede said a total of 242,935 Australian tourists visited Bali in the first four months to April, an increase of 2.07 percent compared to the same period last year. (*)
