Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid condemned the Israeli military's interception and detention of the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 mission, which reportedly included three Indonesian journalists.

The journalists were identified as Bambang Noroyono and Thoudy Badai from Republika, and Andre Prasetyo Nugroho of Tempo.

"We are deeply concerned about reports involving Indonesian journalists currently covering the humanitarian mission to Gaza," Meutya said in an official statement received on Tuesday.

She stressed that the safety of journalists must remain a priority amid conflict situations.

Meutya said the journalists joined the mission to deliver humanitarian information and facts to the public and therefore deserved protection and safe access.

According to Indonesia's Foreign Ministry, at least 10 vessels participating in the GSF 2.0 mission were intercepted by Israeli authorities, including the Amanda, Barbaros, Josef, and Blue Toys.

The vessels carrying the journalists have remained unreachable, while the condition of those on board has yet to be confirmed.

Meutya expressed support for the Foreign Ministry's diplomatic efforts to ensure the safety and protection of Indonesians participating in the humanitarian mission to Gaza.

She added that her ministry would continue coordinating with the Foreign Ministry and other relevant parties to monitor developments involving the mission.

The Foreign Ministry said it had coordinated with Indonesian embassies in Ankara, Cairo, and Amman to prepare protection and repatriation measures for Indonesian nationals involved in the mission if necessary.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all journalists and humanitarian volunteers, wishing them continued safety," Meutya said.

The GSF describes itself as an international humanitarian movement supporting aid access to Gaza.
