Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, on Friday, visited I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport of Bali to ensure that the aviation infrastructure is well-prepared for people's mobility during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
According to his office's statement cited here on Saturday, Purwagandhi reviewed the conditions of the airport's arrival and departure terminals alongside officials from state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura and the local airport authority office.
He stated that the government has taken several measures to anticipate heavy traffic around the I Gusti Ngurah Rai airport, such as opening additional lanes, widening entry and exit points of terminals, and setting up bridges.
The minister also made the most of his visit to review the airport's integrated post designed to manage and monitor a surge in travelers during the year-end holidays. Therein, he virtually coordinated with officials stationed in similar posts set up in the provinces of Jakarta and Banten.
He urged officials to pay attention to details, including those related to weather, to anticipate potential problems.
Earlier on Friday morning, Purwagandhi participated in a roll call for Operation Lilin 2024, chaired by Chief of the National Police (Polri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) General Agus Subiyanto in Denpasar, Bali.
"This roll call was held to inspect the preparedness of the personnel, facilities, and infrastructure needed to serve the people during the Christmas and New Year holidays," he remarked.
Indonesia has mobilized 141,605 joint personnel, comprising police officers, soldiers, and officials from other institutions, to take security measures, control traffic flow, and anticipate disasters during the holidays under Operation Lilin 2024, effective from December 21, 2024, to January 2, 2025.
