Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid called on Indonesian people to exercise their voting rights in the regional head elections on Wednesday to help the nation decide its future.
"Cast your votes responsibly. Your choices will shape the future of your regions and Indonesia," she said in a statement from her office.
Alongside her husband, Hafid cast her vote at a polling station in Ciracas, Jakarta, as shown on her Instagram account.
In the statement, she urged people to reject inflammatory political narratives and avoid sharing unverified election information.
She emphasized that active participation is essential for peaceful, honest, and fair elections.
The regional head elections were held simultaneously in 37 provinces, 93 cities, and 415 districts.
Elected governors and deputies will be sworn in on February 7, while mayors, vice mayors, and district heads will be inaugurated on February 10.
