Jakarta - Vice Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives for foreign, defense and intelligence affairs Tubagus Hasanuddin said the visit by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to Indonesia is solid proof that Indonesian has become increasingly taken into consideration in the international world. "Indonesia is considered a country with a high commitment to contribute to seeking peaceful solutions in conflicting areas," he said on Wednesday. He said since 1957 Indonesia's role in maintaining world order has been very significant. "At that time we also sent thousands of military troops to various countries facing conflicts, such as Congo, Iraq, Vietnam, Iran, Kuwait, Bosnia, Cambodia, the Philippines and some other countries," he said. The latest, Tubagus said, Indonesia sent 1,300 military troops to Lebanon where they had amazing performance. "The peace keeping troops training center in Hambalang the UN secretary general has inspected, was proof of Indonesia's seriousness in preparing peaceful, reliable and professional troops," he said.
